TiE U Hack@thon 2024: Seize the Opportunity to Innovate in Business and Sustainability
The TiE U Hack@thon 2024 is here, inviting college students to bring their innovative ideas to life while tackling real-world challenges. Organized by TiE U, a branch of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) network, this hackathon offers students a platform to address critical issues through two significant tracks: Business Innovation and Sustainability. With over $22,000 in cash prizes and travel vouchers to the TiE Global Summit 2024 in Bangalore, participants can make a real impact while gaining recognition and valuable experience.
What is TiE?
Founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley, TiE is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. With a network spanning over 60 chapters worldwide, TiE supports aspiring entrepreneurs through mentorship, networking, and resources. TiE U specifically focuses on university students, providing opportunities for them to develop real-world skills and connect with industry experts.
TiE U Hack@thon 2024: The Tracks
This year's hackathon challenges students to address pressing business and sustainability issues, with two primary tracks:
Business Innovation Track (Sponsored by Verizon): In this track, students will work on solutions that help small businesses accelerate digital transformation. The challenges focus on improving digital skills and developing mentorship programs that guide small businesses through their digital journeys. Teams will explore how to make these programs scalable, impactful, and accessible to underserved communities, tackling issues that many small businesses face today.
Sustainability Innovation Track (Sponsored by Ansell): The Sustainability track addresses global sustainability challenges related to personal protective equipment (PPE) waste. Participants will create new models for recycling PPE, overcoming obstacles like material contamination and cost management. The goal is to propose solutions that reduce waste and improve recycling processes, advancing Ansell’s RightCycle program and setting a precedent for sustainable practices in the industry.
Why Participate?
This is more than just a competition; it’s an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in solving real-world problems. Teams of 2-4 students will brainstorm, plan, and prototype their solutions over ten days, with access to mentorship from industry experts. Participants will gain skills in app development, project management, and innovation, all while contributing to solutions that could have lasting impacts on business and environmental practices.
The hackathon will conclude with a presentation, during which teams will pitch their projects to a panel of judges. They will compete for cash prizes and the chance to present at the TiE Global Summit 2024 in Bangalore.
