Small Aircraft Collides with Truck at Airport Manatee in Palmetto
A small aircraft incident occurred today at Airport Manatee in Palmetto, Manatee County. At approximately 10:45 a.m., an Aeronca Champion aircraft attempted to take off and collided with a parked pickup truck.
The aircraft reportedly clipped a power line before making contact with the vehicle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and transported both individuals on board the aircraft to a nearby hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities have secured the site while the Federal Aviation Administration initiates an investigation into the cause of the accident. No other injuries were reported, and officials have not yet determined whether mechanical failure or pilot error contributed to the incident.
