Sarasota County Man Dies After Mysterious Injury in West Bradenton; Police Seek Information
A Sarasota County man has died following a mysterious incident that left him unconscious in a West Bradenton neighborhood. Detectives are now working to determine what happened in the hours before his death.
The Bradenton Police Department reported that Sherrone Jackson, 27, was dropped off by a rideshare service near the intersection of 68th Street West and 12th Avenue West around 10:45 p.m. on October 29. Jackson was reportedly in the area to retrieve a spare key left in the mailbox of a nearby home. He had planned to return to Sarasota County afterward using another rideshare.
Based on their investigation, detectives believe Jackson was still waiting for his rideshare just before midnight. Roughly two hours later, at about 1:45 a.m., a passerby discovered Jackson unconscious near the same intersection.
Doctors later determined Jackson had sustained a traumatic brain injury, though the exact cause remains unclear. He never regained consciousness and died from his injuries on Wednesday.
When he was found, Jackson was wearing black Nike shorts, a white tank top, black slide sandals, and a red trucker-style hat with "Badlands" printed on the front. Authorities ask anyone who may have seen Jackson the night of October 29 or noticed unusual activity in the area to contact Bradenton Police Detective Mulligan at william.mulligan@bradentonpd.com or call (941) 932-9330. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Manatee County Crime Stoppers.
Police continue to investigate Jackson’s death, seeking answers to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome.
