Pirates’ Spring Training Facilities in Bradenton Suffer Damage from Hurricane Milton
Late Wednesday night, Hurricane Milton swept through Florida’s Gulf Coast, leaving behind a trail of destruction that reached the Pittsburgh Pirates' Spring Training homes in Bradenton, Fla. Both LECOM Park and Pirate City sustained damage, though the facilities remain standing. The storm’s impact included damage to the batter’s eye and fencing between fields at Pirate City, while the outfield wall at LECOM Park was also affected.
The Pirates utilize these Bradenton locations during Spring Training, with Pirate City hosting initial workouts before the team transitions to LECOM Park for the Grapefruit League season. Despite the recent damage, the team anticipates a timely recovery, with preparations on track for a February 23 home opener against the Twins.
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the Pirates have expressed solidarity with the community, working alongside Bradenton area first responders. Major League Baseball encourages fans to support recovery efforts through donations to the Red Cross. To contribute, visit redcross.org/MLB.
