Mandatory Evacuation Orders Issued for Manatee County: Know Your Zone and Be Prepared
In response to the incoming severe weather threat, Manatee County officials have issued mandatory evacuation orders for residents in Evacuation Zones A and B, as well as all mobile and manufactured home residents throughout the county. Those in the affected areas are urged to take action immediately to ensure their safety.
Residents should be familiar with their designated evacuation zones and be prepared to leave promptly. Before evacuating, it is important to turn off the main breaker to your home. Those evacuating are strongly advised against driving through any floodwaters, as they pose significant danger. If you are heading to a shelter, ensure you bring essential items and follow all posted evacuation routes.
To accommodate evacuees, three schools in Manatee County will open as emergency shelters starting at 2 p.m. today. The designated shelter locations are Mills Elementary School at 7200 69th St. E. in Palmetto, Miller Elementary School at 601 43rd St. W. in Bradenton, and Myakka Elementary School at 37205 Manatee Ave. in Myakka City.
Additionally, a special needs shelter will be available for those who have pre-registered. Individuals with special needs who have not yet registered are encouraged to do so by visiting the county’s website at mymanatee.org/needs.
