Manatee Memorial Hospital Takes Precautionary Measures as Hurricane Milton Approaches
As Hurricane Milton moves toward the Gulf Coast, Manatee Memorial Hospital is implementing comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and facilities. The hospital, in close collaboration with the Manatee County Government, the City of Bradenton, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management, has installed three Tiger Dams at the hospital’s lowest points to protect against potential storm surge from the Manatee River.
In preparation for the hurricane, Manatee Memorial has activated its Incident Command Center to monitor conditions and coordinate response efforts. Staff members are working diligently to secure the hospital and remain focused on patient care and safety, despite the challenges the approaching storm brings.
To prioritize safety, the hospital has adjusted visiting hours; they will end at 7:00 p.m. on October 8 and remain suspended until conditions are deemed safe. Community members are reminded that Manatee Memorial Hospital is not an emergency shelter. Those seeking shelter during the storm are encouraged to consult local resources and visit the Manatee County Government’s website for shelter information.
As the storm nears, the hospital is advising everyone to stay informed by monitoring official updates. Manatee Memorial is committed to the health and safety of the community, and with dedicated preparation, they stand ready to face whatever challenges Hurricane Milton may bring.
