Manatee Hurricanes Shut Out Riverdale, Advance to State Semifinals
BRADENTON, FL — The Manatee Hurricanes delivered a dominant performance in the regional finals on Friday night, defeating Riverdale High School in a decisive 38-0 victory. The win cements Manatee’s place in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 5A state semifinals, continuing their stellar playoff run.
Playing at home in front of an electrified crowd, the Hurricanes showcased their strength on both sides of the ball. Their defense was impenetrable, holding Riverdale scoreless for the duration of the game. Offensively, Manatee’s attack was relentless, with key contributions from their quarterback and running backs ensuring a comfortable margin of victory.
This victory follows earlier playoff wins, including a 55-26 triumph over Pinellas Park in the quarterfinals and a 54-8 rout of Immokalee in the semifinals. The Hurricanes now turn their attention to the state semifinals, where they will face St. Thomas Aquinas, a perennial powerhouse in Florida high school football.
The matchup is set for Friday, December 6, 2024, at 7:30 PM at Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium in Bradenton. The Hurricanes will look to maintain their undefeated playoff streak as they aim for a berth in the state championship game.
