Manatee County Property Owners Reminded of Important Tax Exemption Deadlines
The Manatee County Property Appraiser’s Office has announced key deadlines for property tax exemptions and relief programs, urging eligible residents to file before the March 3, 2025, cutoff.
Local property owners who have not yet applied for homestead exemptions, as well as those qualifying for senior, disability, widow’s, widower’s, or deployed military exemptions, must submit their applications by the deadline. Homeowners who have recently purchased property in Manatee County in 2024 are also encouraged to apply. To qualify, applicants must have owned and occupied their residence as of January 1, 2025, and provide supporting documents, including proof of Florida residency, vehicle registration, and voter registration or domicile declaration.
The county office also emphasized the deadline for applications related to catastrophic event tax refunds. Property owners who suffered significant damage due to natural disasters in 2024, such as hurricanes, floods, or fires, may be eligible for a rebate if their home was uninhabitable for at least 30 days. The application process includes completing a Property Damage Survey and submitting the necessary documentation.
For convenience, applications can be submitted online via the Manatee County Property Appraiser’s website. In-person assistance is available at the office on 4th Avenue West in Bradenton, which operates weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Residents are encouraged to act promptly, as state statutes do not allow for extensions beyond the March 3 deadline.
