Manatee County Offices and Libraries Closed for Veterans Day; Select Services Remain Open
Manatee County government offices and libraries will be closed on Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. However, several vital services will remain operational with minimal adjustments to accommodate residents’ needs.
Regular trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will proceed as scheduled, with no changes to the usual collection days. Additionally, ongoing debris removal efforts will continue without interruption, ensuring consistency in waste management throughout the holiday.
Recreation services will be partially available. The G.T. Bray Recreation Center will open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the pool will remain accessible until 3 p.m. A modified schedule of group exercise classes will be in effect. In contrast, the C.V. Walton Center will be closed for the day, with all racquet sports, basketball, and pool check-ins redirected to the main recreation center.
Golfers will find the Manatee County Golf Course closed for seeding on Veterans Day, though the Buffalo Creek Golf Course will be open for play.
Public transportation services, including Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT), the Anna Maria Island Trolley, and regular weekday Handy Bus services, will operate on their normal schedules, contingent on any curfews and roadway access.
Local Veterans Day events include the Manatee County Veterans Council Parade in Palmetto, a performance by the premier jazz ensemble Airmen of Note at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, and a Catholic Memorial Mass at Sarasota National Cemetery.
