Manatee County Lift Station Crews Work Tirelessly to Restore Wastewater Systems Post-Hurricanes Helene and Milton
In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Manatee County lift station crews have been working tirelessly to ensure the continued operation of essential wastewater systems. These critical facilities, responsible for pumping sewage and wastewater from lower to higher elevations, play a vital role in maintaining the county’s sanitation infrastructure. When gravity alone is not sufficient to transport wastewater to treatment plants, lift stations ensure that the flow remains consistent and safe.
Over 120 county employees have been working 12-hour shifts to transport necessary equipment, including pumps and generators, to lift stations across the region. Despite the significant challenges posed by storm damage, over 80% of these facilities are currently operational. Crews continue to work around the clock to restore the remaining lift stations, striving to return all systems to full capacity as soon as possible.
The efforts of these dedicated public servants have been instrumental in protecting the health and safety of the community. Residents are encouraged to conserve water until repairs are complete and all systems are fully functional. As the recovery process continues, the county extends its gratitude to those working in adverse conditions and thanks the public for their patience and support.
