Firefighters Contain Early Morning Blaze at West Manatee Structure Fire
At 7:15 a.m. on December 30, 2024, West Manatee Fire Rescue responded to a significant structure fire near 123 Street West and Cortez Road. The fire, which fully engulfed boats housed within a garage-like structure, posed a threat to at least one nearby building.
West Manatee Engines 121, 131, and 111, along with Rescue 138 and Battalion 1, arrived promptly at the scene, supported by Cedar Hammock Engine 231 and Ladder 219. Chiefs 103 and 104 coordinated firefighting efforts, with EMS Alpha 9 on standby for medical support.
The intense fire required a coordinated response to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures. Firefighters worked diligently to bring the blaze under control while minimizing damage to adjacent properties.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage, which includes the loss of the boats and significant structural damage to the building.
