Detectives investigate attempted armed robbery with shots fired at Ellenton Outlet Mall
Detectives from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an attempted armed robbery with shots fired at the Ellenton Outlet Mall. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
The report indicates that around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, two masked Black males, armed with at least one handgun, entered the Gold Palace Jewelry store. Upon entering, one suspect fired a shot towards the back of the store, but no one was struck.
In response, an employee pulled out a gun and fired at the suspects, but missed. The suspects quickly fled the scene, running towards the parking lot.
An off-duty deputy who was on the premises responded within minutes after hearing the gunshots. He secured the store and ensured no one was injured before pursuing the suspects. The deputy gathered additional information about the suspects, who reportedly drove away in a silver Toyota Highlander. Both suspects were described as wearing masks and blue FedEx-style shirts.
Nothing was stolen during the robbery attempt, and there have been no reports of injuries. However, EMS was called to assist someone inside the store who experienced a medical episode following the incident.
