Bradenton Man Killed in Head-On Collision on County Road 675 in Parrish
A deadly crash involving two heavy-duty pickup trucks claimed the life of a 51-year-old Bradenton man Wednesday morning in the Parrish area. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. on County Road 675 near 125th Avenue East, northeast of Bradenton.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident involved a Ford F-350 traveling westbound that, for reasons still under investigation, crossed into the eastbound lane. A Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by a 20-year-old man from Riverview and towing a utility trailer, was headed in the opposite direction. Despite attempts to avoid the oncoming Ford by moving onto the shoulder, the Silverado was sideswiped on the driver's side. The Ford then struck the front corner of the trailer, detaching it and sending it off the road.
First responders arrived to find significant damage to both vehicles. The Bradenton man was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Silverado driver and his 26-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
The impact caused both vehicles to spin. The Silverado came to rest on the grass shoulder of the eastbound lane while the Ford remained on the roadway, facing the wrong direction. Investigators remained on-site for several hours to reconstruct the scene and determine the cause of the fatal lane departure.
Crashes of this nature—particularly involving large, powerful vehicles—are known for their severity. The lack of barriers or broad shoulders on rural roads like County Road 675 can contribute to the risk when a vehicle crosses the center line, whether due to distraction, fatigue, or a medical emergency.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The collision highlights the critical importance of driver attentiveness and the inherent dangers of rural road travel.
