Bradenton Man Fatally Struck While Crossing Lockwood Ridge Road

A 74-year-old Bradenton man was killed Friday night after being struck by a car while crossing Lockwood Ridge Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. near 55th Avenue Drive East in the Braden River area of Manatee County. Authorities reported that the man was attempting to cross the road from west to east when he stepped into the path of a southbound vehicle. The front of the car struck him, and emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 90-year-old Bradenton man, and a 91-year-old passenger were not injured in the crash. The victim's identity has not been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
