Bradenton Launches Hurricane Damage Assessments to Qualify for Federal Aid
Beginning today, teams from the City of Bradenton have been deployed to assess the damage left by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These assessments are an essential first step in evaluating the city’s eligibility for federal disaster recovery programs, including FEMA’s Public Assistance and Individual Assistance programs. As Bradenton’s residents work to recover from these powerful storms, these assessments will provide crucial data to secure funding and resources for both public infrastructure repairs and individual assistance for affected residents.
Inspectors will focus their assessments on special flood hazard areas. Easily identifiable by their high-visibility vests and City of Bradenton identification, these inspectors will also display their credentials on the dash of their vehicles for additional verification. Each homeowner visited will receive a letter detailing the purpose of the assessment, what to expect during the process, and important information regarding flood permit requirements.
This effort marks a collaborative push by the city to ensure its residents receive the support they need to rebuild. For any questions or concerns about the inspection process, Bradenton’s Building Department is available at 941-932-9400. The city appreciates the community's cooperation and patience as it works to restore and strengthen The Friendly City in the wake of recent hurricanes.
