Bigger than Baseball: Community Comes Together for Hurricane Helene Relief on Anna Maria Island
Bradenton Marauders step up to help the community
Last week, a team from Bradenton Marauders dedicated two days to aiding Anna Maria Island’s recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Partnering with The Center of Anna Maria Island, staff members rolled up their sleeves to assist residents and businesses affected by the storm.
The relief effort involved visits to numerous homes, where team members helped to clear out heavy furniture and appliances that were damaged beyond repair. Many houses required significant work, with volunteers tearing up waterlogged carpets and removing damaged drywall to help prevent mold growth and further structural issues.
The Bradenton Marauders also extended their support to the Anna Maria Island Historical Society. The staff worked tirelessly to preserve and clean historical artifacts threatened by the storm. Their efforts were crucial in ensuring that pieces of the island's heritage were protected, helping the Historical Society as it continues to document and preserve the local history for future generations.
The team expressed immense pride in the community spirit and unity displayed on Anna Maria Island during this challenging time. Despite the devastation, the collaborative efforts and determination shown by everyone involved are a testament to the resilience of the community. The Bradenton Marauders are honored to contribute to the ongoing relief work and look forward to continued efforts in rebuilding and restoring Anna Maria Island, especially after the unknown that comes with Hurricane Milton.
