Apparent Murder-Suicide Leaves Two Dead in Manatee County Neighborhood

A quiet neighborhood on Treymore Court was the scene of tragedy Wednesday morning as Manatee County deputies responded to a call around 10:30 a.m., reporting two people lying unresponsive in a front yard.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the bodies of an elderly man and woman, both dead from single gunshot wounds. A small handgun was found next to the man's body.

Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate investigation and later confirmed the incident appeared to be a murder-suicide. A note found at the scene suggested the act was premeditated. Authorities have stated there is no evidence pointing to the involvement of any additional individuals.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released as officials continue to notify next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
